Trying to talk Connor out of this. From thepowerplayers

We had defeated Hamilton. When I say we, I mean me and my son, who wasn’t supposed to be here. It hadn’t been easy. He had taunted me, and had said that I was a flea and that he was going to swat me. He said that I should have stayed in the sewers in New York City feeding on rats, and that the Senior Partners had wasted a lot of time trying to conform me to their ways of thinking.

The last part, I agreed with him on.

And he had been tough to defeat, much tougher to kill then Sebassis, who had been killed with the simple press of a plunger into his blood givers blood stream. Ultimately, though, the idiot caused his own demise, because as it always was, the big bad guy had to let you know that he was the biggest and the baddest. He bragged that the Senior Partners were one with him, that he was a part of them, that their blood was in his system and permeated him with strength.

Blah blah. That was my cue to drain him, and with Connor’s help, distracting him, even though he got swatted away, I did and two minutes later, now, I stand here looking at Hamilton, who neck crunched when I hit him with a punch that sent him airborne and into one of the last pillars holding the building up. If the punch didn’t kill him, then the debris, hundreds if not thousands of pounds, falling onto him, did.

Except that Connor was still here, I had to get to the alley, didn’t even have time to tell Eve that by now, Lindsey was dead, and Connor was fighting with me about leaving.

A large section of roof started to tumble towards Connor and I dove on him, telling him that he needed to get out of here. I told him, after he had said that he wasn’t going to let me die, that I couldn’t die if he was alive, because if he were to live on, then a piece of me would always be here on Earth, fighting evil.

“That’s a nice sentiment, father, and the words were kind and I appreciate it, but wherever you are going, you know that you can use me there, need me there and besides, I have the stubborn Connor voice working now. I’m not leaving, so lead the way to the big fight and let’s get going, already.”

I didn’t have time to argue with him. Again, I didn’t have time to go tell Eve that Lindsey was dead, which I was really looking forward to doing. “Okay, you get to come, but I’m going to tell you what Spike, Gunn, Wesley and Illyria already know, what I’ve started here is so big, that none of us will survive it, more then likely. I’ve assassinated the most prolific evil spreaders on Earth outside of the devil, himself. Are you willing to give up the other life that you have made in order to join this fight with us? It’s going to be hell. Archduke Sebassis, who I’ve already killed, has a legion of forty-thousand demons that work for him. I can’t have you dying, Connor. I would rather you not be there. Not because you can’t handle it, but because I don’t want you to die. You don’t have to be a part of this…”

I grabbed his shoulder and rushed out into the rain with him. “Are you willing to die, to lose the family that you have come to know because of something crazy that I had to do? Something that could put your very family and the rest of the city if not the state and beyond, in danger?”

[Connor]
