'08 Recap

So yeah, fun looking back on 10 years ago...

Now let's get back to the present and boy -- what a wacky year '08 was...

It snowed in April, got up to 90 degrees in May for the first time, a storm followed that knocked out power in June, the rain got pretty annoying (especially when we had our work team build at the end of July) and the Northwest turned into Snow Land to end the year. Usually I love snow and stomping around in it, but yeah... It overstayed its welcome. I remember when it snowed pretty good in 2000 and we got about a foot in '96, but those times it wasn't below freezing for so long. Just about the only thing worse than the weather? ANY Seattle sports team. x_x

The writers strike was of course pretty bad too. It was great to see former executive producer of Power Rangers - Bruce Kalish leave seemingly after the strike ended, before season production had finished (which we knew was coming, but not that quick). Definitely weird that Power Rangers RPM is starting next month and we don't know who the new EP is, or most of the Rangers... let alone have even seen a promo. The new year also brings Kamen Rider Dragon Knight, adapted from Japan's 2002 Kamen Rider Ryuki. Great to have an Japanese adaptation filming around Los Angeles again.

Who knows when I'll be hanging out with everyone from Rangerboard again, but ACEN '08 won't soon be forgotten. And going to Sakura-Con for 2 days was fun as well, which I'll likely miss this year because of Passover.

It felt like it had been forever since Britney and Christina both had songs out at the same time I really like (after looking into it, it was back in 2003)... and Pink as well? (Gotta go back to '02). This is why I'm always happy just listening to the radio, although I'm thinking it might be nice to finally give in to buying an iPod in '09.

I'd say I definitely grew up a bunch this past year also, from Valentine's Day to going to the Front End house party on NYE. Part of the reason quietly pushing carts at Target and only getting to know a few other guys I worked with, feels like so long ago. It also got me to realize how sick I am of using "shyguy005" on several sites for many years now, as I try to use a newer nick more regularly. And as fun as it is to have people over (which I'm sure I'll do once or twice this year), it's great to finally be going to other peoples parties more often.
