That was scary. We are safe, my family is safe. We lost power yesterday but got it back around 3am this morning. Last night, I stood outside and watched the continuous lightning over the trees. I turned to Mom and said, "Ringgold is getting hammered."
Little did I know.
Ringgold has been heavily damaged. Okay, it's been pretty much flattened. Apison took a hard hit, too. So, within five miles of my house in one direction, eight people died in Ringgold: within five miles in another direction, eight more people died in Apison. I am still trying to take it all in.
And today was one of the most beautiful spring days I have ever seen. After last night, it was almost obscene, but it was a gorgeous day for clean-up. My heart and prayers go out to those who lost loved ones, homes, and businesses, and also to those working to restore power and clear roads. Many, many lives were changed last night and I feel very lucky and humble that we came through safe and sound.
Just..wow.
