Tuesday night was great!
I got to hang out with my good friends Luke and Mike and we had a blast. We started out at Mike's place messing about with SCAdian music on various instruments and hammering out a piece in progress of Mike's. I discovered that it has been entirely too long since I last played either my flute or my bass and I am sorely in need of practice on both; I could hardly read the music, let alone play it. Meanwhile Mike and Luke were just whipping out instruments and improvising as well as playing the written pieces.
After a while we decided it was time to eat so we headed out to 2nd st in Harrisburg and went to this great little sushi place. I haven't eaten so much sushi in ages! We ended up getting an order of edamame, a Spicy Tuna roll, a Dragon roll, an Autumn roll, 4 pieces of Unagi, and 4 pieces of Salmon. We all got hot green tea and miso soup too. I had never had miso soup before and I thought it was delicious; the spicy tuna roll was a bit too spicy for my taste and the autumn roll was nice, but a little on the spicy side too. While we were sitting at the restaurant we decided that we wanted to go to a movie. After a little thought we decided on Zombieland.
We had about an hour to kill so we went and hung out at Borders for awhile and then headed to the theater. None of us were really sure what to expect with this movie though we had heard that it was good and the ads made it look like it was funny. The opening credits had me (I don't know about the guys) a little worried that it was going to be a gory zombie movie but it quickly settled into a nice balance of gore, humor, and the occasional touching moment. Also, a great cameo by Bill Murray. If you haven't already, GO SEE ZOMBIELAND!
All in all, a great night out with a couple of great guys. It was good to see Luke again; we hadn't seen each other for a few years and it's good to know that we can still just hang out. It actually kinda felt like old time. Not the bad old times, but those intermittent good times I had in high school. It felt like taking back part of my life, and it felt good.
Who knows, I may be on the way to being more than just a lump at home. I certainly am feeling more alive than I have in quite a while. Now all I need to do is get my license, get a job, and get my life back on track. I've even been thinking about trying to take some online classes to get me closer to a finished degree; I need to do some more research on that. I'm starting to feel like myself again, and it feels great!
