Men REALLY think women'll vote for someone JUST BECAUSE they are a woman! Really! They really really do! That's how unintelligent and emotionally crazy they think we are! Seriously ( Read more... )

Not many politicians can move me like Obama. McCain doesn't move me never has never will, similar to Bush. Of course, I'm a hardcore card carrying Democrat so take what I say with a grain of salt. I do find McCain's choice of running mate interesting. Nothing like throwing a monkey wrench into things for both side's plans. I will say that I do find Palin attractive in that she's a young fresh face in politics even though I don't agree with her politics.

McCain likes them young and pretty. I'm sure they didnt have to twist his arm to agree to her as a running mate.

Their excuse for picking somebody with even less experience than Obama was that she was mayor of a (extremely small) "city" (town) for a while, so theoretically she has more executive-branch-type experience ( ... )

"Just an observation: most of the people I've heard saying they "just don't trust Obama" that I've noticed are white women. Weird."

Haha! Ok, now I'll be prejudice and say that "You DO live in SC." lol

But even more than that, women are more likely to go on gut feelings than men. And CERTAINLY more willing to voice that they do. I have no 'straight up facts' that come to mind for why I don't like him over anyone else...it's just a feeling I have.

And don't forget about Palin being a mother of 5 kids on your reasons why she appeals to conservatives.

Yeah, but you came from the South! But just barely, with that Yankee Carolina of yours.
Irrational gut feelings are not always reliable. Neither are rational decisions, to be fair. Anyway, here's a Times article (long) about Obama's fiscal policies in more detail than you get from speeches.
There are rumors floating around that she really only has four kids, and now one grandchild. But I'm not really one to put stock in rumors.

I think Barack would do wonders for the appearance of the U.S. internationally... and I think that is one of the most important things the U.S. can work on right now...I am still AL GORE HARDCORE... but since that will never happen I have to go with Barack...

oh and on a side note... McCain utterly destroyed AZ politics... no one out here likes him... and I went to class with some kids who are REALLY upset about Ron Paul not making the cut... I say all of this as someone who has seriously been considering becoming Republican...due to economic realities and such...

I like to remind people that the president's most important job is representing the country... pushing that red button is a choice that comes around wayyyy less often.

I was actually hoping Edwards would make it.

I knew someone who worked for him, and thusly have never like Edwards at all.

If you don't like Bush's policies, then voting for McCain is nearly the same as voting for another term for Bush. Since 2004, McCain has voted with Bush 90% of the time. Including saying that torture should be an option, which makes my brain hurt since he was tortured when he was a POW.

Don't worry. After the last 4 years, I have no intentions of voting for McCain. My choice is now whether or not to vote for Barack. It's a free country and I dont have to check off his name just because he is the only other candidate printed on the ballot. I wrote in for 04, and I get critisized a lot because people think it "doesnt count." But it's a hell of a lot better than NOT voting because I don't like the choices.

That's all good. I don't think it "doesn't count" as you're voting for who you wish you could see as president. I just don't like it when people vote for someone who represents things they don't agree with just because of the party name written beside the candidate's name.

Me too. I registered Republican forever ago because I always preferred the Republican Presidents in history....And I still feel a strong pull for them because of the way I was raised, etc., but now that I'm older I've learned about the things they did that DON'T make it in the history books and just how irrelevant it is to register with EITHER party.
