There's lots of pride in being a straight white male.
Straight white men have done amazing things for this country. The majority of the men who signed the Declaration of Independence and who spearheaded the move from monarchy to democratic republic where straight white males.
I take exception to the fact that you should feel some guilt because there is a segment of your demographic that has been seen as an oppressor. YOU are not.
You are a part of the straight white male demographic that has made this country great. It is true that blacks, gays and women have been held back by a portion of straight white males, but these same men also lifted them up.
Were there any black males in Congress when the Amendment to grant suffrage to black males came to the floor?
No.
All the seats were held by white males.
Were there any women in Congress when the Amendment to grand suffrage to women came to the floor?
No.
The majority of the seats were held by white males.
Change, reformation, reexamination of society, politics and religion has almost always been pushed upwards. And White Males have for centuries been the ones with enough voice to make the Change, reformation or reexamination permanent.
