Thoughts:
-Well, that was surprisingly not as bad as I had anticipated it to be. I'll keep watching and see how things go. It felt very reminiscent of seasons 1 and 2, when it was just 'saving people, hunting things'.
-I was happy to see Bobby, even though there was a sad lack of Castiel. Where are youuuuu, you ridiculous, pretty angel you? There is a gaping hole in this show without you. I'm sure you'll come around soon.
-Seeing the Djinn again was pretty cool, even though they really didn't do too much and were just a plot device to get all these characters together.
-The reappearance of the Yellow-Eyed Demon was unexpected and pleasantly surprising, even if it was in Dean's hallucinations and not reality. I missed that guy. Oh, back when things were much simpler on this show. Yellow Eyes is fun. He's got a lot of spunk, that guy.
-Domestic!Dean bothered me, I have to admit. And the lack of Impala made it feel strange. Though him cooking breakfast was cute, and he's good with the kid. I love the kid who plays Ben. I don't really know why. Lisa's acting bothers me, but I can deal with it.
-Samuel coming back felt a little contrived and forced, but I can go with it. Same with these 'long lost relatives'. I'd like to hope that the woman could be another badass like Ellen, but I'm not going to hold my breath. This show is so bad at characterizing women. I'm curious to see where their storyline goes, and I'm not sure I trust them at all, which is sad.
-I miss John. Why can't Jeffrey Dean Morgan just come back? Those were the days.
-I like the new opening credit thing. I say this every season, though. They're always fun.
Overall, I'd give it a 6/10. I've seen much, much worse episodes of this show and I've seen much, much better. It was fun, with some nice brotherly moments, lots of angst, lots of action with no real plot. Sera Gamble has written almost all my favorite episodes in this series, and she's always been the one to go to for the brotherly bonding, so we'll see how this season plays out. I'll give it half a season and if it stays consistent, I'll stay with it. This could really go either way at this point. I'm hopeful. At the very least, it's nice to see the Winchester boys on my screen again. I love those boys.
Apparently, I like to live in my fantasy fanfiction world all the time. I would have been perfectly content with this season being Sam, Dean, Bobby and Castiel traveling around the country saving people, hunting things, and stopping to see all the random touristy things along the way because Castiel wants to get the 'human experience' and he doesn't comprehend things like the world's largest rubber band ball. Somehow, this would endlessly amuse me. Just like Castiel with a gun and 'drinking a liquor store' did. I am easy to please. Haha.
