the last month in review

So each weekend I keep saying well I have stuff going on next weekend, I'll just post after that and do it all at once. Yeah, that worked out well.

Three weeks ago was ConBust, a small sci-fi/fantasy con at Smith College. Normally I'd stay far far away, but Tamora Pierce and Patricia Briggs were there. I got two books signed from each of them, and went to about five panels hosted by various authors. Bruce Coville and Jane Yolen were there too, which was cool. It was fun.

Two weeks ago was Anime Boston. I cosplayed Winry again and Alicia cosplayed Ed, so we had various shenanigans. We got harassed by an asshole Roy, I got creeped on by a 14 year old fanboy, we dressed up for the formal ball, went to two FMA photo shoots, and fell in love with a little 5 year old (-ish, I'm guessing) boy dressed as Ed who pretty much stole the show.

Last weekend nothing happened except from Thursday night through Saturday if I wasn't at the barn I was in my room sleeping. I'm not kidding. Thursday night I was on foal watch, and of course nothing happened. Friday night was when she had her foal (well technically early Saturday morning). The other mare that was due went the Wednesday before that, so now we have two foals! They're so cute :D So Friday was a blur, I got back, slept, went to class, went to work, slept, had dinner, went to night check, slept, and then got up for work at 7am on Saturday. With full-blown congestion and blowing my nose every 20 minute allergies. It was a fun weekend. And by fun I mean hell. Much better now, though, I think I finally found allergy/cold medicine that works.

And this weekend is the Livestock Classic, in which I'm showing a horse. So once again, as Alicia has pointed out, I might as well live at the barn. I'll be there from about 1pm Friday night for work through like 8pm or so when setting up for the Classic ends, with a break around 4:30-5:30 for food. And then back at the barn at 7am Saturday morning to prep for the Classic, and I'm showing at 8. Dana and I have decided we are getting drunk Saturday night even though we'll probably be tired, because the Classic will finally be over.

it was a giant FMA poster/display, of course we had to take a picture in front of it :p

HE WAS THE CUTEST THING EVER

me and Alicia posing, and standing next to us is the Hoenheim cosplayer we befriended

Rose and her foal (a boy), here less than a day old, if you can believe it

Westie and her foal (a girl), here 3 days old

Gunther
on a random note, this is Gunther, a 2 year old visiting for stud training. He's a draft (probably Shire)/Andalusian cross and he is GORGEOUS.

Oasis, the horse I'm showing at the Livestock Classic, he's a sweetheart :)

cosplay, i love horses, anime boston, interesting weekend, fma, books=love
