so the concert last night was FUCKING AWESOME. All 4 bands were great live, Shinedown was definitely my favorite, but Halestorm was amazing. Her voice is just, like, HOLY SHIT, man can she sing. Then they were selling their CD for $10, and I couldn't find it online to download, so I was like hmmm, and Steph bought it for me as a way of giving me gas money :D
Chevelle played next. I don't really have anything special to say about them, other than they're excellent live.
Then there was a half hour break while they set up for Shinedown. lol I heard the opening of "Sound of Madness" and I'm just like YEEEEEEESSSSS. It's currently my favorite song, and definitely my favorite song of theirs. And this is when it truly became a rock concert. After they played that and said hello to the audience, and started their second song everyone was standing, even people on the lawn (general admission, where we were), lots of screaming, etc. :)
-quick layout explanation of Meadowbrook: there's the stage and the actual chair seats, which are under the pavillion, and it slopes up towards the back, and then there are bleacher seats, which also obviously slope up, and then there's the general admission, "lawn seats", so we weren't actually too far away. so being under the pavilion was kind of like being in the pit lol, closer, louder, got the full affect of all the lights and effects-
anyway, the lead singer of Shinedown is a little sketchy, but damn can he perform, and sing. He looks a little older, has the leather jacket and pants, and the long hair, and if you've heard any of their music his speaking voice is exactly like his singing voice. It's the hardcore look, which is fine, though slightly sketchy :p BUT they're really REALLY great live. Amazing. Totally makes up for and overshadows any potential sketch factor, lol.
And I've started to get a little tired of hearing "Second Chance" so much, but when they played it the entire place was singing along, every single word, and hearing it live, it was impossible not to love the song again.
This time they only took 15 minutes to set up for Staind, which took us by surprise a bit. (haha Alicia you called me literally like 30 seconds before they started playing, so you were soon drowned out, which is why I just hung up :p) They pulled out all the stops for this, though Staind was the headliner, so it makes sense. The lights were great. It's kind of odd, Staind has been around for the longest out of the four bands, but they were the one that I knew the fewest of the songs they played. That's probably the only reason I didn't like them as much. Don't get me wrong, they're amazing live. But my favorite was Shinedown, followed by Halestorm, and then Chevelle and Staind tied for third. Staind played for an hour and 15 minutes, it was awesome. Then he came back for an encore, just the lead singer and his guitar, and the whole place was singing along, it was amazing. He sang two songs, then the entire band played one last song.
It then took us like 40 minutes to get out of there. It was ridiculous. Most people are fine, but the few assholes make it unpleasant for everyone. Also, wtf was with Dunkin Donuts being closed? It wasn't even midnight!

and I'm so glad I bought a t-shirt before the concert. It was insane after. I got a white Shinedown shirt, with lyrics from "Sin With a Grin" (the chorus) on the front and the cover of their latest CD on the back. It's only slightly baggy, but I'm pissed that it's pre-shrunk. I just need it to shrink a little and it'll fit fine. grr. Whatever I'll still wear it :p
oh and my camera was super lame and takes bad distance pictures. So I only got 3 decent pics of Shinedown playing their first song. Before that it was too light outside (being in the light and trying to take a picture into a dark space is too much for my camera unfortunately) and after that everyone was standing up so I didn't have a good view for pictures. *sigh* oh well.
But OMGGGGGGGG the concert was so FUCKING AWESOME! :D
