So, I'm from SW Pennsylvania, and we are currently under a state of emergency.
No one's allowed on the roads apparently, and if found driving they're being ticketed. I wouldn't know. I still have roughly 8-12" of snow on my street and the hill I live on, so I haven't even attempted leaving. We're also under a mandatory water conservation notice because one of the pump stations has no power, so the reserves are low. I do have power, heat, cable, and internet (thank God!) to go along with my 19" of snow.
Worried about my parents, however, who have no power or heat, and were told by the electric company that it might not resume until Tuesday. Hmm, and today is...Saturday! Even if the roads were open, their cars have 5 foot tall piles of snow that have been plowed against them, and being in their 70s, and my dad with his heart condition, there will be no digging them out anytime soon. Mom says they're fine, and triple layered to keep warm, but temps are supposed to drop down to single digits tonight making me nearly panic at the thought of them stuck in that house with no heat. They do have a gas stove in the basement that she was using to heat up soup for them, so that makes me feel a teeny bit better, but still. I have a feeling I'll be calling almost hourly to check on them
And watch this stupid LJ cut not work for me again. Taking a deep breath and hitting the Post button...
