i guess i should update.

wow. we last left off in paris. then i went to london, and rome. traveling is hard, but i do like europe a lot. and chabad is odd. yeah.

i then was so happy to get back to the holy land. i bummed, went on a few day trips (haifa, tel aviv, ein gedi) and laid on my ass for several hours covered in mud at the dead sea. i explored the christian and the muslim quarter of the old city. i saw idan raichel in concert (campbell, that is the cd that i gave you...they were AMAZING) i also baby sat for some fairly awful children. 6 weeks is a looong time to be off from school. grades were ok. i did poorly in hebrew, but that is about all my fault.

i turned twenty one. i had a wine and cheese party. it was amazing. i got really pleasantly drunk, ate a ton of great cheese (the dairy in this country is unbelievable) had a new favorite wine (pinoit noir..like the one they talk about in sideways..it is that good), had mike suprise me, and felt loved by my very lovely roommates and a few guests, inclduing the wonderful abra and daniel who swung by from london and waltham respectively to pay a visit. it was honestly the best birthday i can remember. there were not one, but two home baked cakes.i just felt very loved and happy. yay. what a great way to start adulthood.

purim is soon! (mr favorite hoiday) i need costume ideas. i am way excited for the whole city to go nuts. also, my dad and sister and sister's friend are coming next week. i miss them a lot, and it will be thier first time in israel. plus i will stay in posh hotels and eat lots of resturant food. i can also sense much shopping. and then there is PESACH which entails boy visting drama. eeep.

but in good news i like most of my classes. history of iran, psalms of the exodus, early settlement in the land of israel, post modern readings of modern jewish history, international relations theory and realities of the middle east, and minorities of the middle east (which i might change for a class about the quran, but probably not). its heavy because i am doing an honors program and they make you take lots of classes.

and the housing gods smiled upon me and hopefully i will get a ziv with five fabulous females. the apartment is great, even though our landlady is difficult and we periodically have no hot water. i love love being downtown. there is a rehavia chevra (the hebrew word for posse, yet a bit more modern..) that i love. i also like hanging out with anya and rebecca and meeting new people. i also like that i have officially taken a break from cooking for the sabbath and i am going to tsfat this weekend, a wacked out mystical city way up in the mountains. i love hippies.

ok. time to go learn a bit of talmud. although in the future, i will go home during this obscenely long break in my day.
