Yes, yes, this is a year late,but I couldn't help but disagree with this critique of the movie adaption of Gaiman's book:
http://www.womanist-musings.com/2010/03/monstrous-musings-monstrous-mother-from.html I liked the movie along with the book,but I understand the criticism of the inclusion of Wybie and him saving her and all, I also get that the other mother in the movie was more domineering than necessary,but why go after the original source? At least Gaiman made Coraline actually clever and skepitcal along with having both parents being creepy. the criticism of the book kind of reminds me of the complaints about Molly vs. Bellatrix that apparently proved JK Rowling's anti childfree woman bias.
So am I crazy? Am I seeing something that ain't there? let's talk it out a bit:
