Trans men at women's colleges

I'm a first-year at a women's college. Some of the students are trans men; however, as far as I can tell, there are no trans women. See, the policy is that if you're legally female, you can enroll. So, since most trans women are not legally female when they're around 17-19 ( Read more... )

Anyway, kind of same thing here. Or something. I have resolved to shut up. "Allies", in the usual sense of the term, are a stupid thing. Because a privileged person can never have legitimate lived experience regarding an area where another person is marginalized, they can never bring more to a conversation than that other person. Therefore, the act of participating in a debate on such an area is an act of... um, presumption, or some other, better word. They believe that they have some kind of superiority, or, alternately, cannot bear to let anything happen without sticking their noses in. Because they cannot ever know as much about an issue as a person it affects can. The act of their making a peep in debate is disgusting, because it suggests they believe on some level they are naturally superior and therefore can talk about shit they can never really understand.

That leaves you with participating simply to agree, which is useless. Therefore, "allies" should never, ever participate in a debate. They should simply make themselves aware of what things they should or should not do (vote for a bill, use a certain term, etc.) and otherwise fuck off.
