Trans men at women's colleges

Sep 09, 2009 10:49

I'm a first-year at a women's college. Some of the students are trans men; however, as far as I can tell, there are no trans women. See, the policy is that if you're legally female, you can enroll. So, since most trans women are not legally female when they're around 17-19 ( Read more... )

I worried about that, yeah. But before the hypothetical trans man went to college, he considered himself female. I thought it was wrong to basically contradict someone's gender identity, even if they don't understand it and they're also hypothetical and I thus know their future. It's his gender identity at the time.

Edited for total brainshart.

lol i don't think that you get to call it a "brainshart" that you called your hypothetical trans man "her" when you've been misgendering him all along.

I have not in fact been misgendering him all along, unless you mean to tell me that when I call him "him", he becomes a woman.

And I was seriously just confused about which point in his hypothetical life I was talking about. Now can you please tell me how I'm wrong in what I actually said so we can move on?

No, when you call him "her," you are calling him a woman.

Also, would you just shut the fuck up with your stupid hypothetical trans people? You are not trans, don't talk about trans people in the hypothetical when you're talking to ~omg~ real live trans people. We aren't fictional scenarios or theoretical illustrations for you to perform furious self-congratulatory ally-masturbation for the viewing of horrified internet onlookers.

Okay, no allies. Okay. They masturbate. Fuck them. So they'll stop wanking.

What are your views on encouraging women's colleges to admit trans women? I promise not to even read them, so don't worry about anything. I just don't know. Okay. Please tell people. Not me.

I deleted a comment that went through when Facebook made LJ hiccup. Sorry.

Anyway, yeah, um, okay. This whole thing, by its very nature, is jerkiness, because it is wank. Also, masturbatory, and self-abuse, etc.

so, instead of actually reading what people are saying to you, you've decided to just start shit?

No. When did I say that? I'm just saying that this has turned into what, in common internet parlance, is deemed wank. Neither party will change their mind and they've resorted to just shouting at each other in an effort to not lose.

I'm reading what other people are saying, and I cannot argue with it or agree with it. Et voila, wank.

you aren't an ally if you continually misgender trans people or if you refuse to listen to them.

I am. However, I'm also apparently incoherent, computer-illiterate, resorting to weird generalized present-tense E.T. speak, up past my bed time, and being redundant.
