These people are sick beyond description, but there's something important to note here, and Dan Savage nails it:

i really don't see the relevance, to be honest. what on earth does this have to do with marriage rather than a crime against a child?

The point is that no matter what crimes they've committed, no matter how depraved they are, straight people are allowed to marry. Gay people, no matter how honest or law-abiding they are, are not allowed to marry. The case has nothing to do with marriage.
