Oh my gosh this was great! Stephen is fantastic and I love his voice, tone, word choice--all that good stuff. So beautiful. Especially Sam all sick on top of health complications. The Dean & Stephen phone conversation was the best! And I love when Stephen comes back after Thanksgiving and finds Sam sick. Now I totally want him to take Sam home for the Christmas holidays.

But this is the first fic I've read in this... series. Is there an easy way of finding the others? LINK! I need LINKS! Must read moooore!

Everyone is really good about the food thing except they don't really get it, right? They can't. And so there is some contamination (because they are a nuts-and-strawberries home, right?) and it's just a little reaction but all the family is still so sorry and it's kind of embarrassing and he just misses Dean?

Stephen has a mom. Sam has never really had a mom (Mary burning on the ceiling, stories of Mary, that look in Dean's eye, that sad smile on John's face as he gives Sammy his bath, none of that counts). And Sam is good with help but Stephen's MOM taking care of him, this whole extended Christmas-day family being so nice and accommodating feels so wrong and messed up, because it only throws into stark relief the things Sam is missing, which is someone to call him a bitch and ignore the wheeze. We've replaced Sam's family with a FAMILY, and that's uncomfortabl and new.

So, middle-of-the-night stoned-on-Benadryl calls to Dean? Dean it's itchy and I'm sad, everyone is so nice and it's weird, I don't even know them, where are you and Dad, kill something extra hard for me, I think of you every time I see a reindeer which is ALL THE TIME, rich people seriously decorate what is this shit.

Because Dean knows it's bad to be too nice to sick Sammy.
