Overview
Name: Wang Chun Yan 王春燕
East Asian nation of big words, may not measure up to them. Seems to be from a universe where the male and female versions of the nations coexist, but leans towards the canon genders in remembering history.
Physical Age: In her 30's.
Personality: Mother hen, wants her "family" to be responsible. Wants to feel young and pretty and loved like she was during the Tang Dynasty. Likes children and pets and other cute things. She's often impulsive and doesn't act her age; she has an easier time remembering the distant past to yesterday's coffee.
Romance: Has old-fashioned notions about love; flowers, dinner parties, and discreet visits to her house are a must. However, she doesn't expect monogamy from any nation. Her country has a taboo against romance with foreigners, so she'd deny any affection if questioned. Doesn't have qualms about going with "family", perhaps.
Gastronomy: She likes food from her country the most, but also appreciates KFC and food from her geographical neighbors. She can cook many things within the scope of her country's cuisine well, but may be over-the-top in getting other nations to try the food. Will try anything she is offered, unless she suspects she's being poisoned.
Languages: She can speak all the "dialects" of China (but don't ask the MUN to demonstrate! I'm not that good), has a Northern accent. She can understand and speak the languages of her geographical neighbors and trading partners to a degree: Korean, Japanese, Russian, German, and English (this one she's the most fluent in because Chinese students are expected to know it!). But when she comes to those countries, her proficiency drops steeply because she's a tourist! Yes, she has an "aru", but only when speaking Japanese or it's integrated into her regional accent.
Vulgarity: Outwardly, she doesn't like perverted things, but may enjoy them in private. She likes being vulgar if something irritates her or if she encounters her "trigger" people. She doesn't like the Great Firewall; she's not her government. Maybe, just maybe she's seen a lot of Hetalia doujinshis.
Relations with other nations
She will assume all RPers of these nations are her universe's unless told otherwise. Be prepared for mistaken identities.
Inside East Asia
This China considers East Asia to be her family, partly to assert her power as a former empire (in some ways she's still an empire), and partly because she'd be a lonely nation otherwise.
Hong Kong: Beloved child. Nags him out of love. Super proud of how far he's come. Confused that there's more than one of him.
South Korea: A longtime acquaintance and family member. Sad that he's no longer loyal to her as an ally. Is familiar with him as an internet troll, thinks he looks down on her. Appreciates his music and television dramas and his touristy money. This universe's Korea is wary of Japan.
Female Korea may incite girly activities.
North Korea (unlikely to encounter, but just in case): She's familiar with North Korea as female and a separate entity from South Korea. Considers her to be a dependent little sister who misbehaves, but who also wants to experience life to its fullest. Occasionally sneaks her cassette tapes across the border.
Same thing for male North Korea.
Japan: In her universe, he really didn't treat her well during WWII, uncertain implications regarding anything intimate due to public opinion in her country regarding the sex drive of Japanese men. Does not have a very high personal opinion of him apart from the quality of his electronics (and his animation). Thinks he is a raging pervert who spends his vacations to other Asian nations womanizing, makes lewd comments of that nature. Appreciates Christmas gifts from him, though. She will get every chance to nitpick him on everything, because she still considers him to be a little brother.
If it is female Japan, she will get along better with her.
Taiwan: Wishes she'd come home and spend more time with her. Slightly jealous of her youth and "hipness". Worried that Japan likes her too much, wishes her relationship with America were nearly as good as Taiwan's. She's fonder of male Taiwan…
Thailand: Friendly with him. Their populations have intermingled extensively.
Vietnam: In this China's universe, Vietnam is not the most fond of her, and likes to remark snidely about the past. including China's control of Vietnam in ancient times. They do cooperate, sometimes. She looks down on Vietnam.
Outside East Asia
America: She remembers him being a WWII ally, a little bitter because she thinks he took Japan, (South) Korea, and Taiwan away from her and is part of the reason reconciliation with Japan is so difficult. She thinks he's immature and could use an improvement in his eating habits. Despite any political rift, she's entrusted many of her ex-citizens to him in the form of the Chinese diaspora and wouldn't want to go to war with him, but who would?
Australia: Nothing against Australia personally. They're trading partners, and she owns a vacation home in his country. Chinese diaspora population.
Canada: Nothing against Canada personally. She likes his geography. Chinese diaspora population.
England: She doesn't have a high opinion of him due to the Opium Wars, but she doesn't make too many lewd comments about him. The two of them are Hong Kong's "parents", but only because both of them were involved in his upbringing. She'd like to share a cup of tea with him, really.
She's just as antagonistic towards female England as regular England.
France: She likes him more than England. She thinks his food isn't too bad, but is aware of his flamboyance.
Germany: She appreciates what Germany did to help her modernize in the years leading up to WWII. They're on good terms today. She might like him in that way, but it's doubtful that it was ever anything serious.
Nothing of the sort for female Germany, but they're on good terms too.
Iran: Familiar with female Iran, but it could go the other way too. They've known each other for a bit; this Iran remembers being the Persian Empire, but how far back is unclear. They like sharing tea and talking about the difficulties they've had to face in breaking free from the European powers' control.
Mongolia: He was once the cruel and powerful Mongol Empire, invading and occupying China (take that as you will) and establishing the Yuan Dynasty. A game of cat and mouse occurred after the Ming was established, and she conquered him in the Qing. She ripped off his beard and took half his land when he declared independence from her. Now he's harmless. They're not enemies, but she intimidates him, just a little.
Russia: They've known each other since around the 1600's as acquaintances and enemies. Considers him a comrade now, remembers him for his role in WWII. Pities the sad state his country is in right now, suspects he distrusts her due to the disparity in their respective populations and past tensions. More familiar with the female Russia.
