On Friday night I was having coffee with Rachel (she's a new transfer student to my school) these two women came up to us and asked if they could give us candy canes. We were so excited and with the candy canes they each gave us a piece of scrap paper with inspirational words. Mine read "God is going to make this your best Christmas ever, because He's going to show His love for you." And they were so sweet and told us how blessed we were and that we have to just take what we can from life. I also gave a present to the closing crew at Starbucks! I put peppermint lollipops in a fancy chinese take-out box and wrote to them telling what awesome workers they all are and how thankful I am for their generosity (aka free coffee) and because I feel like I've made new friends.
I went to church last night and Meredith actually came with me! And the service was beautiful, it was simple and musical, and she knew it meant a lot to me.
Today has been so good!
I got the books I wanted- I asked for two more Post Secret books and the other novels of Donald Miller, the author of Blue Like Jazz I just read. My mom gave me $50 to Starbucks, but her and her boyfriend hadn't discussed it so he got me $50 too! How incredible is that! With the rate I'm paying for my coffee, that'll last me a year! I tried to be creative with my gifts, and they all turned out great. I really wanted my mom's boyfriend to feel loved by me and he was very surprised with his gifts and cried. He's been hugging me all day. I even bought my brother a couple books that I know he would like, I hope he gives them a chance.
The only visitors have been next-door neighbors.
We made a big cheese fondue pot for dinner, second year in a row so we decided to make it tradition. Today's spirits were so high, our house looks so pretty. It was the best Christmas I have had in a long time.
Happy Holidays!
