Its not you, its me

Had another interview today for another job at work. The hiring manager told me at the end that she would not hire me. The reason being that while she thinks I will someday make a great sr measurement analyst, not today. I don't have the "statistical chops" essentially, no experience with SAS. It annoys because I know that if I had had this interview while I was in my statistics class, I might have gotten the job. But when you're not using them everyday, histograms do not come to mind as the first solution to a problem.

Anyway, this is the 3rd time at my company that I have essentially been told "under other circumstances, we would hire you for this job, but right now, we have (or can wait for) the perfect candidate."

I know the job market sucks for everyone (its not like charles isn't still looking) and I really do understand that if you have the perfect candidate, thats who you hire. But I am getting really tired of being second choice.
