Behold the new icon! My fire helmet! Yay! =)
So, we had a not bad fire practice tonight. Better than the last one which consisted of moving furniture around the fire hall. =p We toured the north end of town in the fire truck checking fire hydrants to make sure they were not buried under snow. All the ones we checked were A-OK. Then we got back and loaded dry hose onto the truck. A good time was had by all. Or by me, at least.
You know, it doesn't matter what kind of menial work it is, hanging hoses to dry, loading hoses onto the trucks, swapping bottles of air, cleaning out the truck bays. I don't mind, as long as it actually has something to do, even in a round-about way, with fire fighting.
Oh, it turns out that the reason dispatch cancelled us while en route, last weekend, is because the victim in the two car MVA was not pinned under or trapped inside his vehicle as originally thought. He was thrown free of the vehicle and his remains did not require extrication. Poor guy. And once again, highways was not out to salt and sand until after there was an accident.
