Hey...
Being from the Washington DC area, I have a vested interest in politics (here and abroad). The NCLB act isn't just aimed towards children, it's also aimed at teachers. The Teachers' Union currently practices and preaches that we can no longer correct a child's spelling errors because it, "might damage the child's creativity". Our teachers are straying from the path of "educating our children" and going towards, "make the kid feel better, whether he's right or wrong." About 09/11/01 and going to war. We did NOT have the ENTIRE world behind us. France, Germany, China and Russia were quite against us. Three of those Nations were prior Allies in previous Wars. Now, it has since come out that they were being BRIBED by Iraq to end sanctions so they could RESTART their WMD program. As for the record deficit. Here's what you need to realize about this. And shame on Bush for not bringing this up enough, and double shame on Kerry for not telling the whole truth about it. Since 09/11/01, we had to rebuild a military that was reduced by 60% under the previous administration. We had a LARGE influx of new troops (which meant, more budget to the military). We had to create a whole new branch of intelligence (the Homeland Security Administration), and even within that we had to refine more and more. We had to rebuild an economy that was quite close to a Depression.
The "why's" of why we went to War. I do not take War lightly. It is a terrible thing that DOES need to be used as a last resort. We did exhaust all other avenues of diplomacy. We received Intelligence (which we have since learned was wrong) that Saddam was working on Nuclear Weapons. Look at a map. Do you see where Iraq is in relation to Afghanistan? Do you realize that if the Intelligence were true, Iraq would have nuked us from behind...without us even knowning it? Our "Allies" weren't working on Diplomatic solutions. This has since been proven. They were being bribed to stop us from going to War. They were selling Iraq military parts to build missiles and jets. Two things that were illegal under the previous sets of Sanctions. We know that France was selling Iraq weapons grade material up to the point we invaded. How is that a "diplomatic" solution?
Unemployment. The Unemployment rate is the number of how many people are elligible for work, how many hold a job, and how many people do not. We are one of the lowest Nations in the WORLD for Unemployment. It's not based on how many people proclaim Unemployment benefits. Elsewise, France would have more than just 9.5%, knowing how their Socialist government works, theirs would be almost 35% if it went by benefits reporting.
If you were talking about the Constitutional Amendment on Gay Marriages. Here's what he said. He wants to leave this up to the PEOPLE. If it is made a Constitutional Amendment, it HAS to be put on the States' ballot. It has to be passed not only in the Congress, but 2/3 of the US has to vote it into being an Amendment. He has the right idea...but the wrong way of going about it. He wants to preserve the sanctity of Marriage (a Christian Instituation). No more different than the Liberals who want to make you un-American because you say the Pledge of Allegiance. I recommend doing a bit of research on the subjects written here. There's a LOT more out there about the how's and why's of things.

PS: as space was running short. This is NOT an attack on you. This is the research I've done on this subject. This is the stuff that I CONSTANTLY have to talk about (being in the "goth scene", I have a LOT of people who attack me for being Conservative [yeah...go figure...the 'open-mindedness' of the Democrats] and for having a different opinion). This is stuff that they're constantly yelling at me to "show proof" or "where'd you hear that lie". I have to find this information out. I do my research. It usually takes about 5-20 min. on Yahoo.
As for the budget, taxes and such. The top 1% of the US, that Kerry thinks should be taxed more currently pays 35% of ALL Income Tax. The top 10% of the US currently pays 50% of the Income Tax. The top 20% pay a MERE 80% of the Income Tax. The scariest of them all...the top 50% of the US. They pay 96.03% of the TOTAL Income Tax. Kerry wants to talk to you about them paying their "fair share" of taxes? That already seems to be a LOT of money that's made off of the Rich.
As for Health Care. Here's something you'll NEVER hear Kerry talk about. Back during the Clinton Administration, Hillary Clinton pushed through Congress the "Clinton Government Vaccine Buying Program." The way it did this was by telling Drug Companies that they were ONLY going to make a certain amount of Profit for their sales, and that the Government was going to telling what that Profit amount was. It was going to use Profit Caps and Centralized Buying to lower the costs of Vaccines. Eventually what happened was that the US companies that made the various Vaccines went out of business because they couldn't keep up with the foreign companies. They feared law suits due to their vaccines (which they weren't making money off of anyways). In 2001, the cost of a child's vaccine was $600. The Government made them charge only $400, making the company swallow the $200 loss. I mention this because Kerry's health plan talks about Profit Caps and Centralized Buying. Gee...sound familiar?
Anyways. Here are a few things that Kerry doesn't want known about his "Plans." He likes to talk about things being so bad. But if our Economy was truly so bad, why haven't we had a Stock Market Crash? Why haven't we gone through a Depression? Why is our Unemployment at 5.4%?
Both sides are Spinning lies this way and that. I hope that people will take the TRULY short time to read up on what it is both sides are saying. And how truly offensive certain candidates are being about their lies.

Our "unemployment" rate is at 5.4%, sure. But please bear in mind that this only counts the people who are actually receiving UI benefit checks.
- It does not count the people who "voluntarily" left their jobs for what the local benefits office did not consider a "sufficiently compelling reason", or those who were fired for "misconduct" such as "excessive absenteeism" caused by severe medical, transportation, or child care problems. - It does not, at least in the state of New York, count those people who are "self-employed", even if their self-employment is a fledgling rock band that just received its first-ever paying gig of $300 split five ways. (I'm serious - my mother used to work for a UI benefits office, and the way the law here works, because the band practices 5 days a week, and has ever brought in any income, the guy in the band lost his ENTIRE benefit claim over the $50 from his first paying gig.) - It does not count those people who were unable to FIND a job over the course of the 26 weeks of unemployment checks. I know a lot of IT folks who spent a lot of time out of work - in one case, THREE YEARS - because they can't find anything in their field, and because everyone else considers them "overqualified". - It also does not count the underemployed. Sure, a low "unemployment" rate might be nice, but when you have people working two or three barely-above-minimum-wage jobs just to try to keep on top of their bills, there's a problem. And before you tell me that they should "just cut expenses", please do the math and tell me exactly WHAT they should be cutting, thanks.
