So, I made it back from DC in time for the convention, obviously.
It went surprisingly well. There were some notable issues, but the root causes are pretty clearly defined, and can be corrected in the future. No major incidents to report, which is always a good thing in my book.
For my part, I've learned that it wasn't the convention business that drove me insane after last year, because I actually LIKE that part. There was something else that led to me quitting my job and shaving my head and joining the cult (or in this case, emergency management and police departments) that was mostly missing from my convention experience this year. And.. I liked it missing. I think I will continue to keep it absent from my future dealings with all conventions and fan related activities. It means my legs hurt like hell from running around, but I don't seem to be sick or have a new ulcer to show off, and I'll take the leg pain any year.
Personal legal and financial responsibility, hinged on a success that is directly tied to things I can't control: Weather, terrorism, the Port Of Seattle, politics. It's a good thing to miss.
