new job

I started a temp job on Monday with a company called Trinal on the south loop. I'm not exactly doing what I'd like but it pays over double what I was earning on unemployment, so that's beneficial. In the meantime, I can continue searching for a PR job while not being broke. I'm actually liking this job more and more as the days go by. I didn't like the area at first because it's fairly industrial but if you walk a block or so away, it gets a lot better. And c'mon, of the four days I've been here, I've already received free catered lunch twice!

Already I adore living in Chicago. I love city life. I love the atmosphere and the fact that I'm surrounded with so much to do and see. There is so much fun to be had! Chris and Dan visited this weekend. Kelly and I were going to have a housewarming party but it was pouring rain all weekend. Lots of Chicago was flooded, so we more or less cancelled it. Instead, we got drinks down the street from my apt with some other friends and then hit up boy's town.

Sunday night I got to meet Irvine Welsh, one of my favorite authors! He did a free book reading from Crime at the Metro. Very interesting fellow and he performs surprisingly well. He signed my copy of Trainspotting. I secretly wished I had a less trendy book for him to sign, but alas everything else of his that I've read has come from the library.

I can't wait to get home. Kelly's at her bf's for the night so I'm gonna get a ton of stuff done around the house, mainly cleaning. Hopefully I can get a jog in before I head to Smart Bar. I've discovered that most DJ sets there are free before 11 pm. Sweet.
