the joys of RL - run down of the last 14 days

Another month nearly over and only a little wiser... ;)

11 to 14 May 2005: Me being me I can't do things without homemade stress. Consequently I worked late on 10 May instead of driving home as I said I would do. I rushed home the next morning, got up at 6 and drove 6 1/2 hours to my parents place, spent the afternoon doing the washing and ironing, then packed. Mum woke me at 4 the following morning. Dad and she took me to the airport by 5 to catch my plane to Luton. Arriving there someone must have pinned a label on my back saying "talk to me" or "free guided tours through London tube system". It's amazing but there are still people who are less prepared than I am when they are traveling. The only difference I can say I will find my way around without a map. They did not. I've never been a girls' scout but hey... I've got a mother Theresa complex. I dropped the German couple of at the tube station, explained to them which train to take and then I rushed through the London early morning rush hour to catch my connecting train at Paddington. Once on bord some English guy apparently thought I should know the timetables and stops of the train by heart. Told him I didn't, because I was just a bloody tourist, a stupid German, who hardly spoke his language. Did not work - ARRGH! Two hours later I arrived in Reading. Another 25 minutes later Adam picked me up. Vicki, Adam and I spent the whole day rushing around trying to collect all the missing itims like bride dresses, flowers etc.It was quite weird when Vicki's Mum, Jill, looked at me and said: "Don't make it another ten years till you come back." - oups! We spent the night at Jill and Eddi's house. Vicki woke me up by 6:30 on her wedding day. All I said was "For heaven's sake go back to sleep" before I turned round again. The wedding itself went relatively good taken into consideration the nervousness of bride and groom and the lack of professional rehearsals. Jill made me sit down with the family which abviously surprised some of Vicki's other friends. Hm - anyway they are now married and happy. The party was fun too but exhausting. On Saturday night I was back on a flight to Germany. Sunday at home and Monday back on the motorway to go back to Hinterzarten.

Three days of work followed. Then I went to Interlaken to help Aki with moving her stuff to a "Speicher". 10 hours of carrying boxes, taking wardrobes, beds and shelves to pieces - not to mention various minor bruises, scratches - later I was totally sore. My back ached for three days. Not even massages could help.

To sum it up:
Next time I hire a car if I go to a wedding.
I won't help anyone move homes in near future.
I know I will not remember any of above.
