Tonight, my minister had been suffering from a migraine so he didn't have anything prepared.
I was asked at the last minute to do door duty, so I opened the hall up and decided that I wouldn't stand for having loads of rows of chairs and would, instead, have a semi-circle and put a third of the chairs away. Excellent move. Next week, we'll circle them a bit more, and a bit more and a bit more, and before you know it, we'll have a circle!!
After that, I realised we didn't have any precenters and the only one there who could do so doesn't like to do so, as he's pushing 90. So I told the minister I'd sing if needs be, so he gave me the Psalms and they were all ones I knew well and it went well, though I forgot any properly Scottish tunes that were 8787D and so went for "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing". Everyone seemed to really enjoy that tune, though. And a few people said I was a really good precentor.. I thought I was a bit low, but it was exciting. I just might have to go on the rota... never know. Will need to pray about it, I think.
So, there was no sermon. We just prayed and read the Bible, with lots of other people reading, and Alex (our minister) just opened and closed with prayer.
It was just AWESOME. So honest. So simple. So genuine. The Holy Spirit really just seemed to be working for us and loving us and leading us. So amazing!
