This just gets weirder....

So, we all know that this has been about the longest and oddest presidential campaign in recent memory. We had three years of jockeying, vying, and electioneering from people such as Joe Biden, Dennis Kucinich, Hillary Clinton, Rudy Guiliani, and the ever-hopeful Alan Sharpton. There are a few redundancies - we have Ralph Nader standing as the token Independent/Green candidate without a hope in hell, but we love him nonetheless.

Then there was the epic battle between Clinton and Obama and the complete party disarray of the Republicans who seemed to exist in a schizophrenic/bi-polar existential quandary, trying to decide if they will continue pandering to the far right, or will they finally be what America needs and be happily in the centre of the political spectrum.

So, we have Obama and McCain as our choices (or Nader! Or Nader! Ok, so I probably won't vote for him, but he's still on the ballot.). This week, both revealed their choices for VP. Funnily enough, Obama chose a guy who is basically his opponent (old, long-serving, wizened and well-respected with a remarkable personal history) and McCain has chosen a woman who is basically his opponent (young, vibrant, popular within her constituency, a bit of an outsider, rather inexperienced, good-looking and vivacious).

Doesn't anyone else see that as truly ironic?

Then we have the VP's constituencies. Delaware? Let me quote Wayne Campbell: "Hi! We're in...Delaware..." I don't really think anything more need be said. Alaska. Ok, well, you should know all about Alaska from me, thankyouverymuch. But Yeah... What? Did anyone else think it was all a rather vicious prank? Anyone?

Another irony. If McCain wins and she gets the VP, then the Lt Gov would take over...or would he? It looks like Don Young may have lost the primary (there are only 151 votes in it at the moment), which means the Representative's seat is empty and he has a good chance at winning. It also means that the attorney general would be the new governor... and I don't even know who that is! Alaskan politics are always weird, but this is taking the cake...

A few links.
Because, well, she *is* a babe...
I have no idea how she keeps that figure after 5 kids. Yowza!

Now, don't get me wrong. I actually like Palin. I think this whole "Troopergate" thing is a crock and generally I really think she has a lot of integrity, which is not something Republicans from Alaska are known for.

Please, please, please, PLEASE tell me what you think about all this! I need input, my mind is in such a confuzzlement....
