small fish, small pond
Had a meeting with a very big fish in our small pond who, more importantly is really, really smart and one of my former bosses.
Very intimidating. He's so smart. The silences seem so much more awkward. And when he asks what I think about this or that issue or political race, my answers feel so unsubstantial.
Of course, he doesn't think about it that way. He's a nice guy helping out a former colleague. Who knows? I could be a potentially useful contact for him in the future.
Plus, did I mention? Up since 2 a.m. It helps that I went to bed around 8 p.m., but I got up at 4 a.m. the day before.
