Update on Things

So Stephen is done with Summer classes. His Trial Practices final was a hoot. There are 8 people in his class, so 4 played witnesses (2 for defense, 2 for the state) and 4 played lawyers (again 2 on each side). The first day (Tuesday) was just horrible. The lawyers weren't listening to the witnesses and so were trying to impeach their testimony on things that they didn't actually say. Then the objections come. The lead lawyer for the state kept forgetting to stand up when objecting and the two lawyers kept whispering throughout the trial. It was very annoying. The best part was when the state got the heresy testimony thrown out and then reintroduced it when crossing the same witness. The last straw for me was when the lead lawyer wrote on the white board (which they used excessively (very annoying)) and then misspelled most of the words. We (the two people on the jury) spent about 5 minutes chatting and waiting for the judge (aka the teacher) to finish yelling at them (which she hadn't finished) before returning a verdict of not guilty (the state is suppose to give the judge the verdict form which she then hands to the jury and the lawyers for the state had actually filled it out before handing it to her (one can only guess what they voted for)). The judge then asked the two of us to explain why and the lawyers for the state started to argue with me about my reasoning. The next day was so much better. Stephen (who went the second day) was a lawyer for the state and actually had listened to my complaints about the day before and so he didn't do any of the stupid things that the first lawyers had. The great line that come out from that trial was "I object because it is objectionable". This time we argue for about 20 minutes before voting not guilty.

I finally arrived home on the 24 of July (only about 2 months later that I originally told Stephen). I helped my mom move classrooms and had a lot of fun with various members of my family. My trip home just made me realize how much I miss San Jose and being able to get together with my family for all the stupid things that they do. So Stephen and I will be moving back (hopefully as it depends whether or not Stephen can get a job there) as soon as he is done with law school.

I am currently looking for a regular job that will work with my subbing as it is not as frequent as I would like it to be and I really need a steady paycheck. So I am looking for afterschool programs and other free lance sitting type jobs. I really hope that I can find someone like Judy.

So after being home for about a week, I again left Stephen and the cat for LA to help with another moving project. I ended up with 3 boxes of audio books and about 2 or so boxes of books and about 3 boxes of various breakable kitchen/dining dishes. I am very excited as now I have a full set of crystal from Grandma and from the Lowy side. I also found a journal that Great-Grandma Irene wrote about her family history and am inspired to write one of my own. I really want my children to understand where they come from and what the people were like.

Ok, so it is after 3 am and I am tired. Stephen and I went to see GI Joe at midnight and all I can say without giving away too much of the plot is that global warming isn't killing the polar bears, Cobra Commander is. With that I bid everyone a good night and I hope that we all don't die in 3 years as the Mayans have predicted we will (I still say BS on that 'cause there are other societies that say that the world will cease to be in different years and obviously that hasn't happened yet as I am still here to write this and presumable you are still here to read it). However that is a rant all to its self and I am too tired (and don't have the topic thoroughly researched enough) to go in to. So good night and good luck as Edward R. Murrow use to say.
