Litho prints for end of the term! - Possibly Maybe & Clr Death Salmon

Jan 16, 2009 15:54

Possibly Maybe approx. 7 X 13 inches
Lithograph 1/5, used lithographic ink, crayon and solvent wash. 3 different layers of colour (1 rainbow roll).

Death Salmon (colour) approx. 13 X 6.5 inches
Lithograph 1/4, used a counter etch on original. 4 different layers of colour (2 rainbow roll).

For the fish I only managed to counter etch the black and white original image. Every other colour after that involved regrinding my stone and redrawing certain areas, doing a registration and printing over top of each layer. For the girl I just counter etched each layer of colour, erased certain parts and added more. As you can see the end result turned out light, and if I had reground my stone and did it like the fish print (I didn't have time to do this however) it would have turned out more solid.

Information on the process of Lithography can be found here.
