First Impressions

Well, I made it! It was a long day of traveling, but aside from some really rough nausea-inducing turbulence, I had a decent trip. First of all, I would like to mention that this journal was not intended for anyone other than my family and friends to keep updated on what I’ve been up to here. I also like to tell them what it’s like in Greece from an American perspective. I’m not saying it’s an underdeveloped country by any standard, but by the American standards that I and my acquaintances are accustomed to, Greece is a fairly drastic change that I feel we were not entirely prepared for. And it’s not even that I horribly mind the change, but it’s just something I’m getting used to. I titled my last entry as First Impressions because that is what they were. I wrote down all the different things I noticed between America and Greece in my first 24 hours here and gave explanations for them according to things I had read or heard. I did not intend to offend or misinform anyone, but I write these entries rather hastily because I am either: 1) on the clock at an Internet Café where the more time I spend there, the more I must pay; or 2) squeezing in some free Internet time between classes. And actually, the part about my milk was 100% accurate-the only thing in English was “KEEP REFRIGERATED” which I already know to do. People do know a lot of English here, which I find admirable, but definitely not to the extent where I could find anything very specific that I need. Thank you for your comments.
