I've been meaning to update for a while. So much stuff has been happening, given the "holiday" concerts at school, drama at school, and this break has been filled with a trip to Rochester almost every day, and probably today too as I just found out. Which is great, but it's times like these that I drive hundreds and hundreds of miles over just a few days that I really wish I could just teleport to places.
My latest book, now that I have finished Everything Is Illuminated, Is My Boring-Ass Life by Kevin Smith. I had no idea this was in the works, but it's pretty much his diary daily for about a year. And of course, the life of the director of some of my favorite movies has not been boring at all for me. Rather, it's been pretty interesting and while I am reading I make mental notes on other movies to see, etc. It reads like... if I were on vacation, for life. Perhaps one of the bonuses of this read is that I'm getting an inside look at another real-life couple's marriage. It's just interesting to see the similarities that I know occur in other marriages and relationships, partly because none of my really close friends are married so we can't compare notes yet. I'm not sure how to explain it; I have been with my now-husband for almost seven years and somehow, marriage has changed us. Mostly in very small ways, for instance, after the wedding he started calling me "Honey" and "Hon" and he never, once in his life previously, ever called me that. I have plenty of endearing nicknames but now, fairly often I hear "hon" when he's talking to me. Which is fine, it's cute even, but it's new. Time really has flown since the wedding, it's been 5ish months already. Things are pretty wonderful, and I hope life continues to be exciting. He's going to (hopefully) be returning to a regular job soon, and I sincerely hope that it treats him well. I'm looking forward to becoming more financially stable and chipping away at the massive debt I've racked up since senior year of my undergrad.
I have books lined up as soon as I'm done with this one, that I'm also looking forward to reading but there's only so much reading I can take in one day before I have to get up and just do SOMETHING. Hence, this entry. Plus, I felt bad about not updating and I actually have stories that are a few weeks old now, that include a trip to NYC and getting stuck in a blizzard.
As an aside, and to close: yesterday I went to DSW, and they were having 80% off sale and as I've grown older, my love for shoes has grown exponentially. Can we talk about how I bought like... 8 or 9 pairs of shoes?? I'm going to try and put a moratorium on shoe-buying for as much of 2008 as I can stand. And that's as close to a resolution for the new year as I'm getting.
