Ear piercing and Air Zimbabwe

Mar 26, 2006 01:59

Before I forget, I found THIS today (from my friend from Zimbabwe):

"Good morning, Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to Air Zimbabwe. This is your captain Boniface welcoming both seated and standing passengers on board Air Zimbabwe from London. We apologize for the four-day delay in taking off, it was due to bad weather and some overtime I had to put in at the bakery where I am on shiftwork.
This is flight AM126 to Harare. Landing there is not guaranteed, but we will end up somewhere in Zimbabwe. If luck is in our favour, we may even be landing on your village! Air Zimbabwe has an excellent safety-record. In fact our safety standards are so high that even terrorists are afraid to fly with us!

It is with pleasure, I announce that starting this year over 30% of our passengers have reached their destination still flying with us. If our engines are too noisy for you, on passenger request, we can arrange to turn them off! To make your free fall to earth pleasant and memorable, We serve complimentary Stella tea and Rambawaraira biscuits!

For our not-so-religious passengers, we are the only airline who can help you find out if there really is a God!

We regret to inform you that today's in-flight movie will not be shown as we forgot to record it from the television on BBC as we were watching European Cup football last night. But for our movie buffs, we will be flying right next to British Airways, where their movie will be visible from the right side of the cabin window.

There is no smoking allowed in this airplane. Any smoke you see in the cabin is only the early warning system on the engines telling us to slow down!

In order to catch important landmarks, we try to fly as close as possible for the best view. If, however, we go a little too close, do let us know Our enthusiastic co-pilot sometimes flies right through the landmark!

Kindly be seated, keep your seat in an upright position for take-off and fasten your seat-belt. For those of you who can't find a seat-belt, kindly fasten your own belt to the arm of your seat ..and for those of you who cant find a seat, do not hesitate to get in touch with a stewardess who will explain how to fasten yourself to your suitcase."

ENJOY YOUR FLIGHT WITH AIR ZIMBABWE"

hahahahahaha

ALSO...I got my ears pierced today! Unfortunately, it's 6 weeks until I can take them out at all, and 6 MONTHS until I can wear most of the really nice earrings (the non-post type), but fortunately (a) the ones I picked are white gold and crystal (some kind of sparkly white-silver stone anyway), which I won't mind having in for 6 weeks, and (b) there are many, many beautiful post earrings out there (my favorite ones that I bought today are post earrings, yay). Yao (my roommate) went and got hers pierced yesterday; she was supposed to go with me, but Catherine (across the hall) wanted to go with us and Yao didn't think she was going to go because she had to usher...but she ended up calling in sick and going with me anyway :) I got the same type of studs (the white gold ones) that she had; she actually got 2 holes in 1 ear and 1 in the other, which sounds odd but actually looks really neat (the 2 holes are in her right ear)
I got to Claire's and these 2 Japanese ladies were getting their ears pierced...the one lady (who I thought might be the mother, but I think they were actually sisters or friends or something; I couldn'te tell) sat there and squeezed her eyes shut and jerked when the gun went off (the piercing gun lol)...so I thought it might hurt, ehh allergy shots (a lump the size of an egg on your arm for 3 days) are what I measure all pain by (and wisdom teeth), so whatever lol. When I got mine done, the lady brought the gun to my ear and I was like OHGODOHGODIT'SGOINGTOHURT and she shifted it and there was this pinch and I thought maybe the gun was caught or something, and then she pulled it away and I was like "wait...that was it? what?" The next ear was even easier. She gave me an aftercare kit and we went on our way; we went to Wendy's and to this jewelry store (I have never seen that many earrings in my LIFE...not kidding) and then back to the square (Harvard Square, I mean) to get coffee at ABP and food at Felipe's (the single greatest restaurant on the face of the earth--world's greatest quesadillas for $3.50. GOD they are delicious.). Then I went to UHS (University Health Services) about my stupid foot (damn hereditary foot problems) and they said I have to come in on Monday...gahhhhh...oh well I got my ears pierced and I'm going to Canada on Wednesday, so it's all good :) I'll send you pictures, Mom...I LOVE my earrings, when I saw Yao's I was like wait...they actually have NICE ear piercing studs? not the crappy little ones that you can barely see and that make you look like you're 5 years old?!?! These earrings look like something you could wear to a wedding. I love them.
ANYWAY I have to go sleep now, it's 2 AM, so good night!
