Hey there!~
I haven't done an video game review in a long time.
Mostly because I don't have the time. But the following was just too good to skip!
Today I want to introduce "
Detroit: Become Human".
It's a story about love, freedom, friendship and becoming human.
The trailer of the game should IMMEDIATELY catch your eye and Chad bought this game on Black Friday and started playing last month. I kept watching him play it so I decided it was too good to pass up.
And I surely wasn't disappointed.
I have fallen in fricking love with this game I can't help it makes me so damn soft. It's just too much I love it and love it and love it. Bless your hands and heart for this incredible gift that has been given to mankind (androidkind). Absolutely the best videogame of 2018 for me, and that even considering it’s more of an interactive film than a videogame. In a year that I found lacking good and really memorable films, I found an amazing gem in Detroit: Become Human.
I'm talking about my own gameplay experience, so some events I reference might've not played out for you. This game has 99+ different outcomes for all three differnet characters that you play as. So what you choose affects your character from that moment. If your character dies early on in the game, he won't come back (unless it's Connor, but that will make another character die later on and most likely make Connor the villian) their story will end and it will effect your entire game.
As can be seen in the inserted table, each scene in Detroit: Become Human has many small details that users can carry out , and in most cases it is precisely these that lead us to one of the possible endings. In addition, in certain scenes we will have unique beginnings or endings that will come not only as a consequence of what we do at the same moment, but as a result of past situations we will discover that had we made different decisions, we could have lived that same moment from a completely alternative perspective or directly not having come to experience it. And some of these flow charts get really long.
Personally, Connor was the most exciting and had the most immersive storyline out of the three. He's my favorite!!! (^_______________^)
I feel like Connor had the most character development. He had more of a moral dilemma than Markus or Kara. Throughout the game, I saw him struggling between following his programming or realising that androids were people too. It didn't take long for Kara or Markus to become deviant as it did with him. When Kara saw Alice being abused, she couldn't follow any more orders and when Carl's son began pushing Markus around, they both faced the fact that androids deserved equality. They didn't have much of an internal struggle that Connor did.
When I played as the other two characters, their interactions with others didn't build as it did between Hank and Connor. Alice, Luther, and Kara are a family. Rose believes in androids' equality. Markus loves North and Carl. There was development between Markus and North as a couple, and she hated it when he chose to protest peacefully, but I don't remember that changing the actual dialogue between them. There wasn't a wedge keeping them apart. With Hank, he has a struggle within himself too, coping with the loss of his son and recognising androids as humans or not. The other characters in Markus' and Kara's storylines weren't facing internal conflicts. So not only is Connor battling himself, so is Hank, and this leads to the third battle between each other as friends. It took a while for the two to finally trust each other.
Another reason is because Connor's personality. He is so innocent, and he made me laugh out loud, especially with some of his interactions with Hank. The two really had good chemistry with each other, and it made their dialogue so funny and rich. Markus is very assertive and passionate; he is confident in himself and in his cause. Kara is caring and protective of her family. Connor is so pure.
This is not a diss at Kara nor Markus. I loved all of them, and they were fantastically written! Markus becoming so powerful and influencial and Kara's relationship after finding out her daughter was an android were really amazing to play through as well.
My only real criticism is not enough Connor+Hank time. Lovely bromance, guys!
Their shipping is Hannor. (^^;) No one can tell me this game isn't a shipfic about pairing a literal twink with a bear. I ship them so hard.
This game is wonderful, the beautiful scenery of the Detroit city, the absolutely awesome soundtrack, the art style and the heart-warming character development is why this video game works!
I can't imagine that there's anybody out there who wouldn't like this game.
So, give it a try!

Here is a short scene to see how the game plays out. You make the choices but you have to be carful, there are many different outcomes for different answers. This video just shows one of six differnt ways to play this scene. I rated it with 10/10, but it's actually closer to a 11. ;)
If you've already played/watched this game, let me know how you liked it.
Bye~
