What a week...

Well, this week brought longer days than I had hoped, drama, and good times all the same. I wonder if weeks for most people are this crazy... I'm usually pretty even keel.

Sunday was the doubles grass tournament at Jim's. Sherman and I walked through pool play and should have won. They changed the scoring to side-out scoring for the final though, which really threw off our game. Then Sherman cramped up, and we weren't able to pull out the victory. We lost 2 games to 1 in the final. It was a fun tournament, but it sucks that we lost when we should have won easily.

Anyway - Coll was able to stay Monday b/c the hospital didn't need her that night, so that was good. We ended up hitting the Outback Steakhouse for dinner, and enjoying some great steaks. Coll then gave me the keys to drive back in her car. I was kind of surprised, no one drives her car but her. I accepted after making sure that's what she wanted to do. She then downed the rest of her drink (about 3/4 of the margarita she ordered) before we walked out. Can you imagine how bad it would have been if I had gotten into an accident then? Fortunately I've never caused an accident, and that night was no different. Made it to Concordia to pick up the key to my crappy new room, then back to Donahue for my last night living in that dorm.

Going out with Coll meant no poker for the weekly Monday night affair, but then it turned out almost everyone bailed for that week of poker, so everything worked out for the best! Tuesday morning came way too early though, and led to an incredibly long day.

Tuesday was the day we had to train supervisors at the CRC. Things went fairly well, everyone passed their certifications for First Aid, CPR and AED. The training went from 9-noon, then Pete, Christine and myself went over for the meet and greet with the RA's. Boy were they surprised when I got up in front of the room instead of sitting with them like I have for the past few years! Anyway... got through that and lunch, then back to supervisor training. That went until about 8:30pm. Then I was stuck there at work until a class let out, and I was still working on the schedule. I got out at about 11pm. Then I needed to move into the new room on South campus. I finished moving out of Donahue and into Concordia (not unpacked and settled mind you) at about 5:30am. I slept until about 7:30, then got up to get to work to train facility staff. Not my favorite day in the world, but at least a lot was accomplished.

So Wednesday brought more staff training, and some poker, and my last fantasy football draft for the year. Things went reasonably well, although they could have gone quicker. I was up until 1am with all of that, then went back to my room to crash. I slept until noon (thankfully) and got to work around 1:30p on Thursday to do a few more things at work, and be ready for the last training session prior to school starting.

As I was in the middle of training the kids who showed up, Chris collapsed in the office. It was pretty scary, b/c he's one of the fittest guys I know. He had no idea what was going on, fortunately we'd all just refreshed on first aid etc. and the police and trinity responded pretty quickly. They transported him to SMMC for some observation, and after talking to him yesterday I found it was just a massive anxiety attack. He's been under a ton of stress with his mom being diagnosed with cancer and other stuff... but hopefully he's able to deal with this stress so he doesn't suffer these attacks.

Finally I left Lowell to head home for the weekend. Spent Thursday night out with Colleen, and most of Friday as well. Her aunt had just given birth to a new baby, and Coll's face lit up when she was able to hold him. It was something to see really.

Then to cap off the week, I got a parking ticket for being 6 inches too close to a fire hydrant, and some NA cop decided to be a pain and make the town an extra $15. I don't see why they haven't ever given me a ticket there before then - it's not like I haven't been parking there for the past 13 years. Oh well... I guess it's less than 4 gallons of gas at this point, so not such a big deal. The scary thing is gas keeps going up. Right now it costs $27.50 for a round trip from Lowell to home if I take the train. Once gas gets up to $4.70 (which will probably be soon) that will break even with what it costs to drive. For now it's still cheaper to drive by a few dollars, but who ever thought it would cost me almost $30 either way to come home for a weekend. Craziness.

That's it for now... gotta get ready for this weekend and figure out what's going on!
