Hi bbs! :) For my first post here I'm gonna share with you a photo of my (almost!) finished portrait-painting of MJ. It's my first portrait ever, so please go easy on the critique! I still need to fix it up a bit, but it's pretty much finished.

just cheap acrylics :)
the only colours i had were red, white, black and gold. and i mixed them to make others.

can someone teach me how to be as artistic as all of you amazing drawers/painters? i mean, i'm pretty crafty and i'm a web designer but an elephant can paint better than i can... LOL.

BUT that's awesome... it makes his gold shirt look sparkly from here!! you should def. be proud of yourself :)

thanks so much, and i'll teach you but mainly it's just up to taking some moments to yourself with no interuptions, and really focusing on what you wanna do drawing/painting wise.
i had that photo loaded on my laptop and slowly drew the outline of his sillouhette with a grey lead pencil, onto my canvas. then once i was satisfied with that, i drew more details like the face, stepping back often to see how the measurements were looking.

i prefer to 'blotch' the paint on, too rather than stroke it. it adds that 'gold leaf' effect which makes it so sparkly i think!

have you ever tried painting onto a canvas? maybe thats whats stopping your flair from coming out... paper, i'm no good with! maybe buy a small canvas and have a go?

i might have to do that! thank you! one of these days i'll lock myself in my room for a few hours and try it out... maybe there will be a miracle, haha :)
