clearly we're all massive MJ stans. but Michael's music is so universal and relatable, so i'm really curious what everyone listens to/listened to(lol). i feel like there's probably a wide variety here. i've met a couple people who listen to a lot of pop, and then me and my BFF Jules(pharmacists) are massive audiophiles with obnoxiously pretentious taste in tunes.

so what else is in your iTunes? who are some more of your favorite artists? if you have a last.fm, do you wanna post your top arists?

i'm a massive fan of The Clash. the only death that rivals MJ's for me was Joe Strummer. they're both heroes to me, and i'm not someone who throws that around lightly. i kind of don't even believe in heroes(but maybe that's what makes someone one, when you realize they are). i somehow handled his death better, though. i was able to pull myself together but with Micahel, i dunno.

after that i'm a huge Spencer Krug fan. he's in the band Wolf Parade and his band, Sunset Rubdown, and i honestly think he's just a step or two below Mike on the Genius Ladder. they both weave these amazing songs. everything in them has a purpose, it's not just a piece of the puzzle or a brick in the wall, everything is a vital organ to the song.

i also love The Cribs, Belle & Sebastian, The Blood Brothers, Foo Fighters, The Futureheads, Art Brut, Pearl Jam, Elvis Costello.. well, since this is under a cut i'll just post my list from Facebook:

The Clash, The Cribs, Belle & Sebastian, Sunset Rubdown, Michael Jackson, Wolf Parade, The Futureheads, The Maccabees, The Thermals, We Are Scientists, The Blood Brothers, Fleet Foxes, Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros, Beirut, Deerhunter, Sondre Lerche, Gogol Bordello, Pulp, M.I.A., Sigur Ros, Art Brut, Foo Fighters, DeVotchKa, The Decemberists, White Rabbits, Arctic Monkeys, Robots in Disguise, Regina Spektor, Franz Ferdinand, Kate Nash, Lily Allen, The Moldy Peaches, The Aquabats, Flight of the Conchords

my top bands on last.fm are

1. Belle & Sebastian
2. The Cribs
3. Sunset Rubdown
4. The Decemberists
5. Wolf Parade
6. The Maccabees

although i see Michael creepin' on #6. i don't imagine he won't be out of the top much longer.

AND I'M SORRY IF THIS WAS SO RAMBLY. i'm drunk and music is my lifeline so i just don't. shut. up.

ETA: THIS IS SO COOL. i knew we'd be all over the place. sorry if i'm scaring anyone with my excitement. i just think it's soo amazing how Michael can bring all these different tastes together like this. and we're all sharing and talking and getting each other into things. IT'S COOL.

epic post, fun stuff, chat
