Ohhh this could not have come at a worse time. Even before Michael died, I've been feeling an overwhelming sense of not fitting in, being dubbed "the weird one" by my family, and just generally being misunderstood by most everyone in my life. And then when Michael died, and NO ONE in my real life (seriously, thank God for all of you) understood how I felt, it just magnified that much more. As a short background, I am the youngest in my family by far- my sister was 15 and my brother was 13 when I was born (and now I'm 27). I have always felt that because of this, I've never been taken seriously, but in recent years and months, I've come to realize that my family flat out thinks I'm weird. Now, I have no problem with being weird because I think everyone is and I don't think it's a bad thing. But in my family, if you go against the grain, it's not a good thing.
And now for the reason for the rage. Many of you saw my post asking about whether or not you would stay in Neverland if you were Wendy. Out of curiosity, I also made it my Facebook status update:
..*question of the day* If you were Wendy from Peter Pan and you had the option of staying in Neverland forever and never growing up OR going home and growing up, which would you choose? Really think before you answer! =)
Not even a mention of Michael, right? Well, here's what my brother in law responded:
Mary, I have no more tongue left from biting it for the past week. The guy was a freak who could sing, and if it was not for his money would be Bubba’s girlfriend somewhere in prison. We should all be embarrassed by this country’s reaction of his death! There is no neverland or Peter Pan, please come back to reality and see him for what he was a rich child molester druggie who bought his way out of trouble! There are a lot more issues this country has to worry about then that freak. :) Check out Peter King's utube video, can not say it any better.
So I responded: And my family honestly wonders WHY I feel like such an outcast and like I'm never taken seriously. I'm entitled to my own opinion, Bill. I don't believe he was guilty, I never have and I never will. The truth will prevail in the end.
And Peter King is an idiot because in the same breath that he used to complain about how we should be focusing on more important things, he still managed to comment about Michael Jackson. Talk about a hypocrite.
And he wrote: I take you seriously, I just do not agree. If you post your opinion as much as you have, I would assume you would want to hear other people’s thoughts about the issue.
I do agree with you about Peter King and most politicians for that matter being hypocrites, but he did say what I believe most people feel about the guy.
And I wrote: Bill, I have absolutely no problem with different opinions. What I do have a problem with is slinging insults my way in an attempt to GIVE your opinion. That's not necessary.
And I can respect your opinion, so long as it's the result of research and knowledge of the cases, rather than just blindly going by what the media skewed at the time, because their assessment was blatantly "guilty" from the start. Most people I know who have researched both cases have come to the conclusion that he was innocent.
UGH.
I think someone needs to spam me with a lot of fun Michael pictures, stat!
I knew you all would understand my frustration. =(
