I received an owl today... from father. I have no idea how he found out that I was here, but I suspect I was recognized at the Atobes' gathering... I'd left a very sure trail pointing to my being in America, damn it...
Father's threats aren't empty. He'll find a way to send them after me if I don't cooperate. I don't dare think he'll actually go after anyone else, but the threat stands and I can't take a chance.

I've had a family emergency and have been called home. Unfortunately, I will likely miss the first week of classes. Please have all of my assignments given to one of my friends or housemates, unless you think this merits my being dropped from your class. If that is the case, please contact me this evening before I leave so we can try to work something out. I strongly desire to excel here, but... Sometimes things happen.

If you're a prof who gets along well with Lust or who is close to the headmaster, you can assume that you know at the very least that she is estranged from her family and would never willingly go see them.))
