Zombie Rom-Com

Friends, you must see Fido.

It's tempting to make that a mandate and just leave it at that, but I have other things to say. :-) This is a truly wonderful movie in almost any way you'd care to look at it. It's a creative addition to the genre, it's social critique, it's a beautiful example of the use of color in cinematography, it's a satire of any number of t.v. shows and previous movies--and not just zombie movies, and it's got some of the best one-liners since "Gee, Ricky, I'm sorry your mom blew up."

This movie made me laugh so hard, so many times, that I ended up sliding off the couch onto the floor, helpless, about halfway through. My face is still hurting this morning. It's seriously brilliant; I think I like it better than Shaun of the Dead, as great as that movie is. Why? Because it accomplishes more, ultimately, and is still just as funny.

The B.H. turned to me at one point and said, "It's a mashup of zombie movies and Far From Heaven!" and I have to say that's very apt. Sounds implausible? Watch it and see.
