Long-time readers of this blog are used to my catalogue of bizarre illnesses/accidents. It is no secret, I believe, that I am the Disease Magnet: Incubating Weird Germs So You Don't Have To. It has been discussed, as well, that this job description may be my major contribution to Apocalypse Camp. (And yes, I DO sometimes lay awake at night, worried that I have no survival skills and am SO not ready to Go On the Lam.)
Given the previous, I feel it is my duty to report the following strange fact:
I...have a cold.
Yep, really. That's it.
I've had it for three days now, and it is the normal, garden-variety sort of nose running, slight coughing, occasionally sneezy, dull-throbbing-sinuses kind of thingy. It has not turned into either an ear or sinus infection, nor has it migrated into my lungs and become the Creeping Crud.
Just a cold. After exposure to all kinds of first-week-of-school germs while working the Welcome Back Bash, officing, teaching, and holding auditions. A simple, uncomfortable, carry-around-a-box-of-Kleenex cold.
Kids, my immune system may finally be shaping up. We will see if it survives a mention here.
