Ah! Last night I attended the best/most fun show that has ever existed. I went for Bocce, but was so so so overimpressed by Giselle Numba One, who is a potentially Wiccan, too incredible Montreal-based rapper. God god, it was the best. And it made my night better because I'd been feeling decidedly unfeminist this Women's Day, and she has this Wicca Rap (best song title ever) which made the world perfect. And then a really fun Bocce set, then Socalled, a Yiddish folk-rapper who made everyone happy and dancing (at snooty snooty Drake!) My god, he brought up two rappers who he'd never met and they made things more perfect. I love that Bocce is now doing all these rap/dj shows, because I get to go to the best shows I wouldn't normally even hear about. No offense to indie folk, but this was so so fun. And last week I attended a 50s dance party which was also over-extremely fun. I mean, everyone was just so happy and 50s dancing to obscure girl bands. God in heaven.
There are so many dresses in this city that there is no longer any reason to wear pants. And I'm so glad I want to be friends with people who make crafts because craft people are so incredibly nice. I can't believe it. I showed up to this Church of Craft event alone, scared, shy, etc, and a girl I'd met once invited me into her friend-group, introduced me to people I thought would be intimidating, and was just generally amazing. How are humans so good? I really love people who care about crafting. I've been thinking critically about crafting lately and I think it's taking over my world, in the best way. It's my new philosophy on how life can be good.
