The downside to being a former professional student

So I'm really starting to freak out about not getting any responses from any of the jobs I've applied to. Yesterday I found myself looking up admission requirements for the PhD. program in mass communication at UC Boulder. Not going to happen. I own a house in Denver, and the drive is unacceptable. But I know I'm good at school, I know they want me there, and I know the rules.

I mean, I'd rather be at home playing with the dog (who we get TODAY!!!!!! YAY!!!!!), but the bank that holds my mortgage won't take that as a reason for not paying the bill. I don't know at what point I just go to an employment agency and accept the fact that I'm going to have to be a bookkeeper or an accouts payable clerk or something. I have lots of work experience in that field.

That's the problem, I think. The first job listed on my resume is the bookkeeper job I've had for the last five years. There are lots of other, more interesting jobs I had while I was working there. Sometimes I had three jobs at a time. But that bookkeeper job is the first thing they see.

I mean, how else was I going to make $18 an hour?

This sucks.
