Yes, thats right, I had a celebratory burrito today. In celebration of what you might ask? In celebration of not getting Cs on all of my midterms. I have yet to get results from one of the tests, but so far I have gotten one C and two As. I think that evens out pretty well. I went in to go over the test that I got a C on and it turns out that the one thing that I apparently did not understand was the basis of about 5 of the questions that I missed. Damn statute of frauds. So after that result last week I was a little glum, but the results I got today cheered me up and reinforced that I am in fact not only on the right path, but that I am understanding things and I am studying appropriately. Needing to change my study habits was definetly a concern of mine, but it turns out that nothing needs to change.
I also found that during midterms, even right before the tests themselves the other students in my classes are quite swell. People told me that law school was going to be super competitive, and yes there are people who are super competitive and Hermione-esque in that they have looked up every latin word and have the answer to everything, but for the most part everyone is willing to help others out or just casually chat about our ridiculous teachers and assignments. I guess that isnt how it is at other schools, but here it is.
So technically it is fall, but you would not know it in San Francisco. I totally miss the changing colors of the LC campus and the first fall rains. It has only rained once in the four months I have lived here, and I never thought I would, but I miss the rain! I want a reason to bust out my whale print rain coat and do some puddle dodging on the way to class. I enjoy the morning fog in the city, because it reminds me of being at the beach, but it makes it quite hard to dress for the weather when it is chilly in the morning, toasty in the afternoon and then windy and chilly again in the evening. Layers are my new best friend. My dorky wheely bag, however, is not my favorite thing. I only have to use it once a week, on my heaviest class day because there is no way I could carry three books and binders, but I really hate it. The streets and sidewalks of San Fran are not wheely bag friendly and it makes my arm sore to drag it all the way to class. Oh, and might I mention I feel like a huge dork-wad pulling it around the crowded streets. But my back appreciates it I suppose.
Tomorrow is Friday, for which I am quite excited. I planned a last minute voyage to the beach for my mom and I and am very much looking forward to a weekend with the ocean, away from the city, and some time in a hot tub. Huzzah!
