Thoughts on Ixchel and Demeter
So as I mentioned before, my two Gods are honored at the Solstices. But the Equinoxes were left pretty much alone.
But now I don't feel as though they are so lonely. In my cycle of the year, my Goddesses are at the Equinoxes. Ixchel and Demeter are both mothers, but in different ways. Ixchel is the new mother, just welcoming her children, where Demeter is the mother who must give her child up. This corresponds with spring and fall, when the Equinoxes are. Spring is Ixchel's time, and the time when new life returns after the cold winter. Fall is Demeter's time, when the mother must left her daughter go and life freezes.
These are just some basic thoughts. Tomorrow I'm going to flesh them out a little more.
