New Years
New Years is coming up and I'm working on figuring out what, if anything, I want to do.
Some cultures believe that you shouldn't clean on New Years, to keep the lucky energies. Others believe that you do clean to sweep out bad things.
Some cultures believe that you binge drink until you puke.
(Ok, maybe that's an exaggeration.)
I've never done anything super special for New Years. I sleep in, I eat, I drink, and then I go to bed. Simple. But for this New Years, I think I'd like to do something.
My current jumping off point is to clean my altars like usual the morning of the 31st, and lay out offerings on them. I think I will go with non-food items, as I will be unable to clean up food offerings in my usual way, as my aunt will be visiting and she thinks this is a phase I will grow out of. Though, I think a piece of Divinity Fudge that I will be hand-making will be offered on each space.
Then, on January 1st, I was thinking about doing a purifying floor wash and smudge, though not as part of my monthly cleaning. This would dispel the year 2011 and begin the year 2012. I would also purify myself in a salt bath with smudge.
Tomorrow I'm going to spend some time going through spellbooks to see if there is anything for me to go on.
