Heart Aflame

Here's a poem i wrote recently, it's meant to be read aloud:

Heart Aflame

Walking the path of desolation
Still afraid that I’ll end up livin’ a life of isolation

I am a stranger in a strange land
The names of my fathers have been stripped away from me

I cross the border into a land of lies
Friends lie across the sea with forgotten goodbyes

Pious monks sit and pray
Saints wander the streets at night lookin’ for a light

Cigarette smoke drifts into the air
Light cascades and makes visible the veil of smoke

Smoke dances in the light, even at night.
Beauty still exists, even if we remain silent.

Dancin’ smoke and sparkling light exists
Even if they remain invisible to human eyes

Bodies moving to the rhythms of ecstasy
Who orchestrates this joyful dance?
Our hearts, our hearts whispers the lovers.

Words jumble and toss and turn
Words flow into me and pour out of me,
Sometimes in coherent patterns,
Sometimes they form like a collage of broken pieces of colored glass

Jagged pieces of glass sometimes cuts the hands of the creator.
The blood drip down and brings this dead thing to life.
The creator’s blood, the source of creation.
