Any of my yarny friends out there have a ball winder I could make use of? I have 800+ yards of beautiful lacewight yarn in hanks that need to be balled, but the thought of winding that by hand makes me want to hide under my couch in terror. Got one. Little far away. But let me know if you still need one around Christmas. We're heading down there for the holiday. At this point doesn't look like I'll have more than a few days if we drive with my sister, but will hope to have time to visit folks.

aw, thanks for the offer sweetie. I think I'm just gonna e-bay one and wind the first hand of the yarn by hand (zzzzzz) for now. hopefully we'll get a chance to hang out while you're down for the holidays!

Yea. Before I got mine, I actually got Mike or my mother-in-law to hold the skein while I wound it up... actually I think that was with the winder. Much easier even with the winder to have a 2nd pair of hands.

yeah, i've been eyeballing swifts as well, but they're stupidly expensive. I think I might take a crack at making my own with tinker toys, if I can find some of those for cheap.

I'd ask monkey to lend a paw, but I have a feeling she'd just eat the yarn.
