Marriage Proposal, Unlimited Internet, and a New Job

Journal Journal Journal, I have been looking all over for you.

*Hmph! That's a lie and you know it*

Okay, I can't help it. I just saw Hard Target on Saturday night and man, Pik van Cleaf ROCKS! I'm still Pik-ed, so try and not be bothered over that.

Okay, I am coming on here after a longish time. And, I do have some bits of news. Hmm.. let's see.

Oh yes, I started as a freelancer. Freelance Technical Writer.

I decided to create a website for me. This will take a while, though.

Hmm.. I went to be interviewed in a place, which was way off my place. I made it through all the interviews. But, then the last decision was made in favor of someone else. That's quite all right, because I couldn't quite make up my mind on how I was going to get there. Everyday.

Okay. Then, next was I got my unlimited Internet connection. :) Yeah! I have been grinning since. LOL

One of the first things that my Ma and I went crazy about was wedding gowns and jewelry. Sheesh! We musta been through like 10/15 sites. I kept showing her stuff and she kept rejecting it. But she liked a few and had me save the designs for my wedding gown. Then, we also went jewelry surfing and my oh my... this was my favorite part. Well, you know jewelry and books are my weak points. So we saved a few more designs. Ma says that if I'd save a few months' salary, I could buy all the jewelry I saved. :) Man, it's like $500 per piece. *gags*

No, no. I'm not getting married. Not as yet anyhow. For which I am thankful. She has seen someone for me. My Dad and a cousin and her husband have seen him for me and like him. His mother says she's always wanted me to be her daughter-in-law, ever since I was a kid. Which is surprising because I didn't even remember her. Apparently, he and I (and my brother) were in the same creche as kids. We played together. He remembers me and I can't, for the life of me, remember him at all. Not even his name or what he looked like.

Okay this whole episode is quite hilarious. And I'll get on with it in a few hours time. I have to go and prepare lunch for Dad and then we have to go somewhere. Where? I'll come back and tell you.

Maybe I'll have some more new noose for you. ha ha.

Ok I'm back. Yes, I said I'd be out only for a few hours, but I did come back in a few hours. Just there was an electricity failure and I've just gotten free :)

Ok, so back to my tale.

He happens to be an old childhood friend. Now, I don't remember my childhood at all. But he remembers me. His mother saw me as a kid too. She's liked me since THEN! She visited us a few weeks back and saw me again. Then, she spoke to my mother about her son. My Ma told me about it and I laughed it off. I told her, what I have always told her, that whatever she and Dad decide for me, will be fine. She said I should have my choice, but I told her I didn't.

Anyhow. Ma didn't tell this lady that she'd told me. She wanted to spare me the embarrassment of facing her the next time. The lady told Ma that she'd told her son about me (not her intention of getting married us tho). All he said was that he remembered me.

Then, one day my parents got along with my cousin and her husband, and visited this lady. They all liked the chap. Ma told this to me a few days after she'd visited her. I was surprised to know that she got my cousin as well, without telling me anything. She was serious about this chap then.

Next, Ma tells me that the lady has talked to her son about her (and my family's) intention. He is preparing for an exam and told his mother that she shouldn't think about getting him married till he's through with his exam.

So, the matter has rested since then. But the Moms are far from giving it up. It's hilarious. My Ma keeps bringing him up in our talks and does so in quite a by-the-way fashion. Keeps telling me how good he is. Especially good for me. I happened to see him last Friday, I think. Now, I think Ma fixed the meeting.

She wanted me to accompany her for a seminar. Now, I had nothing to do with that seminar and I had refused to go. Then, she very subtely coaxed me into going there. Later, I learned that this lady was coming there too. He son and daughter came along too. I've met the daughter before. She's a nice kid. I like her. She comes on the Television program for kids. This guy too apparently didn't know about the meeting being fixed. Or did he?

He sat in the first row. Now, that was ok, except for the fact that he's really tall and has really broad shoulders. People behind him couldn't see a thing. He was told to sit some rows back and he obliged. That's how I first noticed him. Ma knew this was the guy but she never told me that this was he.

Later, at high tea we were introduced. This is how that happened. His mom turned to him and went, as though this was purely coincidental that we met there, 'She's Shalu. Remember?" he nodded. Then she turned to me and said "You two were in creche together." I shook my head apologetically to say I didn't remember. Nonetheless, I said hello to him, and he said hello and that was all the conversation that happened. I was busy with my plate of snacks and he was probably embarrassed at being surrounded by his mom, sister, a childhood friend (who didn't remember him but was being planned for by his mom) and her mom, plus a whole gamut of his mom's colleagues (all women). He too concentrated on his plate. I didn't look at him again. But in that one hello what I saw was a sophisticated, intelligent, determined face. Ma had told me he was very quiet, reserve, and studious by nature. It shows.

When we got home, Ma asked me how I liked him. I told her that frankly, I don't even remeber what he looks like. So much that if I ever saw him again without his Mom, I'd never recognize him. My Ma smiled but I know she was surprised and disappointed at my naivete. LOL I know she liked him a lot for me. My Aunt (my cousin's Mom) also likes him. So it looks like, day by day all my family is liking him.

Sheesh! My days are numbered, I guess.

Now, to the next bit of news.

My cousin (a younger one) got betrothed to a guy. She didn't tell me. I was quite shocked when I got to know. From my Mom. Her mom told my mom in a very shush-shush fashion. Anyhow, she too is betrothed to a childhood friend. I'm shocked because till a few months back, they were like 'He's my brother' and 'She's my sister.' And now they're getting married. My Ma told me that Yasmin (my cousin) agreed to the match. Now, I think that the kids fixed it for their parents! Sheesh! I'm not against it or anything, but THAT guy? Yasmin deserved much better. Unless, she's in love with him or something. He is such an idiot. Of the first grade.

Well, the last bit of news is that I GOT A NEW JOB!!!

YAY YAY YAY. I got my offer letter today. That's where I had to go.
Man, I'd expected a salary of about 20k to 25k per month. These guys are paying me a salary of 33k a month. I'm jumping like mad.

I wish Jen was around. :) I wanna party with her.

I'm joining tomorrow. Now, I'd be seeing Jen only in my night and her day or on weekends. I'm gonna miss her like hell. But I'm happy for her. :)
