Fic recs, January 2006
Both the fics I'm reccing and my descriptions are very short this time around. January was a busy month and I didn't have time to read anything long.

This dialogue could be right out of the movie. It's simply perfect *happy sigh*

Summary: The care of blades after Helm's Deep
This is just a short scene of Gimli and Legolas sharpening their blades after Helm's Deep, but it speaks a lot about the friendship and mutual understanding they are in the process of finding. Could be read as slash, but also as gen.

Pairing: Ryan/Seth
Rating: R
Note: Written for the Suspension of Disbelief challenge. I had to take a tired, old, decrepit cliché and turn in on its head and make it pretty again. Or at least new and different. My plot device was “Be careful what you wish for.”
This is a very delicious short O.C. fic. So very Seth. Also made my stomach do a couple of flip-flops, in the best way. I just love Seth's over-active imagination :)

3 very well-written and poignant glimpses to what being a Hufflepuff is about.
5. 25 stories Penknife never wrote about the Marauders
We mock because we love :) This was hilarious.
"Why are all our parents dead?" Sirius asked, standing awkwardly in a corner of the funeral reception.
James shrugged. "Natural causes, JKR says."
"But we're only in our twenties. What, were they all really old?"
"You're asking a math question again," Remus said. "Here, have an olive."
"I mean," James went on persistently, "when Harry's in his twenties, we'll be ... "
"Dead," Sirius pointed out.
"Oh, right."
