Two weekends ago was a really great time for me spiritually. It was the weekend of Franconia Fall Conference, which is the more serious of the two Franconia Mennonite Conference assemblies. I was a delegate for Vincent, so i went, and as always, enjoyed it. It's important to take part in this, and to see what is happening in our conference. There's a lot of singing (including two hymns in the old sanctuary at the Franconia Meetinghouse that gave me goosebumps), and talking to a lot of people. I sat next to Paul Lederach, a former bishop in the conference, at a table. He's still got a lot of passion for the veracity of conference.
The highlight, however, was Saturday night at a separate workshop on evangelism lead by Bob Stevenson, who basically plants churches in Mexico. He leads one larger congregation, and they plant new congregations in the hills outside of Mexico City. He spoke, very passionately, then he and a few people from his church went into the crowd at the end, and prayed individually for people. Bob prayed for me, saying that he sensed a "heart of Nathan," who was an advisor and friend to David, and rebuked him after the Bathsheba affair (2 Sam. 12). He said i wanted to see good things for my friends. Sometimes, i'm skeptical about such things, but i don't think there's really any reason to be. When I looked in Bob Stevenson's eyes, i could not be skeptical. The guy seemed like an angel, and that's honestly what i was thinking.
Sunday morning, after the service, a man at Vincent, whom i've spoken about before on here, took me aside and told me that if anyone ever asked me to be a minister, i should speak to him first. I won't say what further he said, but it was very encouraging. Was this a prophecy? I don't know, but coming from this gentleman, i won't forget it. He was crying when he said it.
Thanks be to God for these things! And for all else. I'm pretty tired right now, and have a lot of stuff i need to accomplish this week, but i've got to be thankful in all things. Happy Thanksgiving everybody!
